DFS Picks of the Night 05/23/19
High End Pitcher
Stephen Strasburg $11,100 – He’s the clear ace of the slate and draws a favorable matchup vs the New York Mets. I usually prefer lefties vs them but Stras should have no trouble in this matchup and his strikeout rate is far away the best on the slate at 30%
Jordan Lyles $8,500 – Lyles has been solid this year sporting a 3.92 SIERA and is coming off a 12k performance. Now I don’t expect that to happen again but the matchup is the main reason we are here. The Rockies are striking out an extremely high rate recently especially away from Coors field. It also helps he is pitching in a pitcher friendly environment in Coors field.
High End Bat
Trea Turner $4,800 – I was going to put Mookie Betts here but that feels like a cop out so let’s go with one of my favorite plays today Trea Turner. He’s not a big power guy or anything but the thing I love here is his stolen base upside today vs Steven Matz. Matz is terrible at holding runners and I always play Turner vs him whenever I have the opportunity. Stolen bases are extremely valuable on DK as they are each worth a double. Don’t be shocked if he starts the game with a single/walk, 2 SB, and a run.
Mid Range Bat
Andrew McCutchen $4,200 – Going to be extremely popular today but for good reason. The wind is once again blowing out in Wrigley, which if you’re unaware, is a huge boost to bats in this particular stadium. Facing off vs a lefty and leading off at this price, makes him near a cash game lock.
Kyle Schwarber $3,700 – Also in Wrigley and leading off at a decent price is Kyle Schwarber, who again, I think will be very popular vs Aaron Nola who has struggled vs lefties this season. Schwarbs has always hit righties well and with the recent move to make him a lead off man has made him much more valuable in fantasy.
